Our Story

Built for the Customer.
Not the Mover.

After years in lead generation, I kept seeing the same problem — people getting overwhelmed, overcharged, and connected with movers they couldn't trust. I built MyMovingQuotes to change that.

Why I Built This

The platform I wished existed

After years working in lead generation and customer acquisition, I saw the same problem over and over — people looking for movers were overwhelmed, overcharged, and often connected with companies they couldn't trust.

Moving is one of the most stressful events in life. Yet finding a reliable mover was still unnecessarily complicated. Hours of phone calls. Non-binding estimates that changed on delivery day. No way to verify who you were actually dealing with.

I built MyMovingQuotes to change that. We connect you with a trusted, FMCSA-licensed mover quickly — so you get a binding written estimate and can make a confident decision backed by real information.

At MyMovingQuotes, we believe moving should feel exciting — not overwhelming. That's why we focus on one thing: connecting families with trusted, FMCSA-licensed movers nationwide.

Carrier Vetting Process

How we vet every mover
in our network

We do not allow any moving company into our network without passing a multi-step verification process. Here is exactly what we check.

1

FMCSA License Verification

Every carrier must hold an active FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) operating authority for interstate household goods moves. We verify this directly through the FMCSA's SAFER system and the Licensing & Insurance database. A carrier without active operating authority is ineligible for our network — no exceptions.

2

Insurance Coverage Confirmation

Federal law requires interstate movers to carry minimum cargo liability insurance and released value protection. We verify each carrier's insurance certificates are current and meet federal minimums. Carriers with lapsed or inadequate coverage are immediately suspended from our platform.

3

FMCSA Safety Rating & Complaint History

We review each carrier's FMCSA safety rating and complaint history through the National Consumer Complaint Database (NCCDB). Carriers with unsatisfactory safety ratings or a pattern of unresolved customer complaints are not eligible for our network. We re-verify carrier status on a regular basis.

4

BBB Standing Review

We review each carrier's Better Business Bureau profile, including their BBB rating, complaint volume, and resolution history. Carriers with significant unresolved BBB complaints or an F/D rating are not accepted into our network.

5

Binding Estimate Commitment

Every mover in our network must agree to provide binding or not-to-exceed estimates. This means the price quoted cannot increase on delivery day based on weight or time — the single most common moving scam in America. We do not work with carriers who only offer non-binding estimates.

6

Ongoing Monitoring

Vetting is not a one-time event. We monitor carrier FMCSA status, insurance, and complaint records on an ongoing basis. Any carrier that loses their operating authority, allows insurance to lapse, or accumulates a pattern of complaints is removed from our network immediately.

Content Standards

Our editorial & content standards

The information on MyMovingQuotes is written to help customers make informed decisions — not to sell them anything.

Written by Moving Industry Experts

Our route guides, cost estimates, and moving tips are researched and written by people with direct experience in the interstate moving industry. We do not publish generic AI-generated content without human expert review.

FMCSA Data-Verified

Cost estimates on our route pages are derived from FMCSA tariff data, industry surveys, and carrier pricing analysis. We update our estimates regularly to reflect current market conditions.

No Paid Placement

Movers cannot pay to appear higher in our quote matching results. Our matching algorithm is based entirely on route coverage, availability, and customer fit — not advertising spend.

Transparent Disclosures

We are compensated by moving companies when a customer books through our platform. This arrangement is disclosed. Our compensation structure does not affect which movers are approved into our network — only our vetting criteria does.

Our Standards

What every mover in our network
must maintain

Active FMCSA License

Verified through FMCSA SAFER system. Active operating authority for interstate household goods required.

Current Liability Insurance

Insurance certificates verified and current. Federal minimum cargo liability and released value coverage required.

Binding Estimates Only

All quotes must be binding or not-to-exceed. Non-binding estimate carriers are not accepted.

Clean FMCSA & BBB Record

Complaint history reviewed through NCCDB and BBB. Patterns of unresolved complaints disqualify a carrier.

Ongoing Re-Verification

Carrier status monitored continuously. Expired licenses or lapsed insurance trigger immediate removal.

One Vetted Mover, Not a Flood

Your request goes to a single licensed mover who services your route — not sold to a dozen callers. No flood of calls, no bidding war for your data.

Know Your Rights

Your rights as a moving customer

Federal law gives you significant protections when hiring an interstate mover. Every customer should know these before signing anything.

Right to a Written Estimate

Federal law requires your mover to provide a written estimate before your move. You are entitled to request a binding or not-to-exceed estimate. Never accept verbal estimates for a long distance move.

Right to Be Present at Weighing

For non-binding estimates, you have the right to be present when your shipment is weighed. The final weight determines your cost — knowing this protects you from inflated weight claims.

Right to Delivery Without Extra Charges

If you have a binding estimate, your mover cannot charge more than the quoted amount. If you have a non-binding estimate, you can never be required to pay more than 110% of the estimate on delivery day.

Right to File a Complaint

If a mover violates your rights, you can file a complaint with the FMCSA at nccdb.fmcsa.dot.gov or call 1-888-DOT-SAFT. Keep all documents, contracts, and communications.

For a complete overview of your rights, read the FMCSA's official Your Rights and Responsibilities When You Move booklet — required reading before any interstate move.
